For those who don't know, and for those who will know very soon, a push present is what you give your partner shortly after they've given birth. It's not customary for your girl to have to ask for it, but since women are smart and know what men don't, she may have already mentioned the topic to you. You Googled it and now here you are.
Price wise, a push present is something very nice. Prepare yourself to think of it like an engagement gift, say a minimum of just over your normal gift budget and go up from there. This gift should absolutely outshine all the rest.
Now that we've set the stage, let's get into some perfect and thoughtful push present ideas your girl will surely love!
Breastmilk Jewelry
A nice ring or necklace from a breastmilk jewelry company will typically cost anywhere from $130 - $300. Almost every breastmilk jewelry company will be a small business, so it's important to choose a reputable one with experience. A company that can make you the perfect piece that won't rust, fall apart or mold will cost within the above mentioned range. I'd be wary of anything cheaper.
This gift will take a good 3 months to receive. The jeweler will make the liquid into a powder by curing/dehydrating and mix it with a type of resin to make the breastmilk stone. Each piece is custom made with options to add sparkles, gold flakes and opal flakes. They can also use formula powder or work with a small amount of milk for low producing mothers.
I highly recommend this gift for anyone whose partner breastfed for a very short or a very long time. A short time being a few days to 2 months then having to switch to formula. She will love that the short time she was able to feed, there's a keepsake to remember it by. If she fed for a very long time, around two years, a keepsake for her long efforts would be adored.
Amazon also has DIY kits, if you're on a budget or to make it together with your partner. See the ink below.
Baby's Firsts Memory Book
This gift is all about the thought more than the price tag. I will say that you shouldn't commit to this gift unless you plan to contribute and do this with your spouse every month.
If she tells you she wants to fill it in herself, let her. Otherwise, you should initiate and help fill in the pages.
A Purse
Hey, the push present doesn't have to be baby or nursing related! It's all about mom and what will make her feel good. What will make her glow up and look forward to the future? Does she love going out? Get her a nice purse, something you wouldn't normally spend for a birthday, something over the top.
Get her a wallet that says "best mom ever" to match. Whatever you think will bring her inner shine back. After all, she just pushed every ounce of cute out of her to make a child.
Jewelry
If you're not sure about a nursing jewelry, a regular piece of sparkle will show her she has a winner of a man by her side. Seriously, we need a reup of sparkle like, at least annually.
A ring, bracelet or necklace in any color she'd love will do. And guys, it doesn't have to be diamonds. Almost any other stone will cost less and she'll still love it. If you know she doesn't like bold color stones, some others that look very close to diamond are white sapphire and aquamarine. Birthstone jewelry is a great personalized gift too.

Aquamarine (typically under $100)

Spa Day
Bonus points if you can organize her sister or best friend to go with her!
Plan a local stay for one day, or even one night, for her to refuel. Save up so she can get a facial, massage, wine and food. Let her get the works guilt free and without worrying about a budget.
Now, this may sound way to expensive for a lot of couples. Use Groupon for experience gifts like this. Also, check your local area for simple one day spas without all the add ons. Las Vegas has some for only $50 a day with access to saunas, mud rooms, salt rooms and you can buy a $100 massage or facial there.
Luxe Robe & PJ Set
What's better than ultra comfy clothes post birth?! Buy her a couple sets of the softest button downs you can find.
Tip- button downs are nursing friendly.
Some soft breathable materials include 100% cotton, microfiber and bamboo, with bamboo being the majority favorite.
Postpartum Journal
Something for the moms who like to self reflect and write is a postpartum journal. She can doodle her thoughts about baby, but more importantly, this is a journal for her to lay it all out post birth. It's a safe space to divulge her emotions, fears, hopes and grievances.
if your spouse likes to express herself often, talks your ear off about many many things or already journeys, this is perfect for her. It can be an additional plus to any other gift or a very thoughtful, budget friendly gift all by itself.
Flowers
This isn't just one bouquet of flowers, guys. I'm talking about a delivery every 2-3 weeks, either delivered by you or a service. Shower her with flowers once a month for the first 6 months! She'll never forget it.
Take it from me, a girl remembers everything that was consistent in her early postpartum days. We come to love the scent of baby clothes and stretch mark creams, we can't help it. It's a time of high oxytocin and new memories. A constant colorful reminder of your love and encouragement for her, especially after you go back to work, will always sit well with her.
Skin Care
You might have to raid her cabinet or ask her best friend for help on this one. Some skin care products to help her feel pampered in everyday life at home will help perk her up and give her a sense of self while she spends countless hours caring for a little human.
The baby's cry is not so loud when she has Dior on her face. Just saying.
If you're not sure exactly what she'd like, some general ideas include face masks, a face roller, plush headbands, exfoliators and foot peels (because who doesn't like foot peels?!). Some more shower skin care ideas are body scrubs or shea body butter.
Let me just tell you, my mom still associates the smell of roses with being newly wed because someone bought her rose lotion as a wedding gift. Girls are scentfully sentimental.
Custom Gift
This is a generalized category so I'll break it into a list.
Custom star chart- similar to the breast milk jewelry, find a reputable seller for an accurate and quality product. This could be the day you met, the day baby was born or the day you found out the big news together. It can also be a panel chart of all these dates, there's a lot of variations for this gift.
Custom sweater or shirt- a "Mama est. 2025" logo is one thought. A portrait of her and baby drawn onto clothing is adorable too.
Birthstone jewelry- yours, hers and baby's birthstones set into a necklace, bracelet or ring.
Whether you do a basket of many things or one extravagant gift, the bottom line is that your partner feels loved and appreciated by you postpartum. Remember that the dad is typically the first person to see the baby, even before mom. You're her rock as the father, if not you then who else?
In some way, simple or extra, she needs to feel and see your shoutout to her post birth. It's not a want or materialistic or spoiled to give a push present, it's important to show support from you to her.
