Best Parks in Las Vegas for Babies and Toddlers

Published on 4 February 2024 at 20:46

Any moms in what feels like an in between baby stage? Where baby is too old for visual cards to entertain, but too young for sensory bins? When my baby was around 10 months old I tried a sensory bag with aloe vera gel and little plastic toys. She picked it up with a death grip on either side and pulled with her little hulk claws. That was the end of that.

There are some great in home ideas, but we all need to get outside. Some outdoor time did me some good and my baby happily ate her snacks and drank her water while on walks so it was always a win.

For fun activities farther outside the home, I recommend parks! Las Vegas is full of many many parks, many more than you expect for a big city. Here are my choice Las Vegas Parks for families with babies and toddlers.

North Las Vegas

Aliante Nature Discovery Park @ 2627 Nature Park Dr

This park has ducks, a kids water park and giant dino rocks… need I say more?? There’s also a story book walkway through the main path where you can read the story with pictures on plaques while walking along. The only downside is the duck poop, just wipe the stroller wheels afterwards 😉.

Can I please share my this bit of realism. I went to this park with my daughter when she was just over a year old. It was a week night and I planned to go for maybe 10 minutes to see some ducks and quickly go home. I made the BIG mistake of letting her leave the stroller for the water park, which we were both mesmerized by in the Vegas heat. She was shivering after only 5 minutes of water play. So I picked her up to put her in dry clothes and take her home. She SCREAMED! Oh, she was M-A-D! So, unable to change her with wet diaper and all in the broad daylight in public, I carried her like a football under one arm and pushed her stroller with the other down the very public park walkway to the parking lot. I flashed smiles at every by-passer so as to say “it’s not normally like this!”. She screamed while I changed her into dry clothes in the car, which she threw up on in all her angst, and we went home. But the ducks are simply delightful, this is a must do park in North Las Vegas.

Floyd Lamb Park @ 9200 Tule Springs Rd

I can’t list Las Vegas parks without listing Floyd Lamb Park. This park perfect for a good stroll with little ones. It's famous for many features including a big lake, large photogenic grass areas, various wildlife and long walkways. The wildlife found here is conducive to Las Vegas including ducks, peacocks and bunnies. Near the end of spring is when the baby animals can be spotted.

Central Las Vegas

Bob Baskin Park @ 2801 W Oakey Blvd

This is a central Las Vegas park catering to kids and toddlers. There’s a huge water area and shaded play areas with animal characters to enjoy. It's a popular park for families, so going here would be a great way to meet other parents in your area.

Lorenzi Park @ 3333 W Washington Ave

This park has big green fields, a gorgeous lake with ducks and the biggest slides you’ll find at any Las Vegas park. I love that the play areas  are fully shaded. With a small baby, there’s plenty of things for wide eyed entertainment. The big lake and historical features give something for all ages too.

*Be mindful when going down slides with little toddlers. Their arms and feet don't always stay in front of them so be cautious of their position before letting go. They hold the sides and their shoes stick while their body continues forward, I prefer to take my toddler's shoes off when she goes down unless I'm holding her on a smaller slide. Slide injuries for toddlers are more common when they slide with an adult than by themselves. Just be extra cautious.

East Las Vegas

Lewis Family Park @ 1970 Tree Line Dr

This is a far east side Las Vegas park. It was just renovated in 2021. There’s a water park for toddlers and kids, which I think is a must on a hot day. Also, the mountains on this side of town are just gorgeous near sunset!

Container Park @ 707 E Fremont St

If you’re in Las Vegas as a local or visiting, don’t pass by Container Park. If you're most interested in just the playground for family fun near downtown, I recommend going in the daytime opposed to night because it can get busy with an active nightlife scene.
This is perfect for an outing for families traveling to Las Vegas. There are restaurants and shops for parents, even kids would like the uniquely designed shops. In the photo above, just note that they've removed the slides from the playground, but it's still plenty fun.
Babies have plenty to look at here, my favorite is the giant Lego blocks. To further peak your interest, the theme is that the entire park is made from recycled materials. The shops, for example, are made from shipping containers. The famous giant praying mantis in the front is made entirely out of recycled metal parts. Any small human will gawk at all the sights here and it's a nice joint for parents too.

Henderson

Discovery Park @ 2011 Paseo Verde Pkwy

It's hard to find parks that have specific toddler play equipment, I mean besides a plastic steering wheel. This park offers a mini playground perfect for little tykes. It's in Henderson, maybe a 45 minute drive from North Las Vegas. It's a cute park. If you want that tiny human play equipment, the drive may be worth it and gives a little nap break.

Amador Vista Park @ 1562 Amador Ln

Henderson parks are really good about keeping updated, well maintained and unlittered parks. This is another good park in the south side of Henderson. There's a simple water area, little and big slides with plenty more to jump and play on. I like the explorative nature of this park with the variety of things to jump on and wonder about for a toddler.
